Thinking of using CoQ10 for skin health ?

CoQ10, also known as Coenzyme Q10 or ubiquinone is a vitamin-like substance that can be found in all the cells of your body.

Its main role in the body is to help in the production of energy. It also possesses potent antioxidant properties which experts suspect it might explain its reputation in slowing down the aging process. It is a known fact that as you age, the levels of CoQ10 in your body decrease.

In our previous review of the benefits of Coenzyme Q10
, we mentioned how important it is for practically everyone to take CoQ10. It has proven health benefits for the heart and every part of the body.

In this article, we want to see if creams containing CoQ10 have any anti-aging effects for the skin.

Many of the research studies were carried out on skin tissues. It is known that the antioxidants properties of CoQ10 help to reduce oxygen free radical damage to skin cells. All antioxidants have the potential to do this.

Damage done to the skin cells is the beginning of the skin aging process. An example of this would be exposing the skin to excessive amounts of sunlight.
In the first study, researchers showed that CoQ10 applied to skin cells protected them against death caused by highly reactive oxygen species.

CoQ10 also stimulated the production of essential skin ingredients (such as Collagens) to allow the body to regenerate new skin cells.

The second research review concluded that antioxidant properties found in Coenzyme Q10 "enhances the anti-aging effects".

These two studies and many other earlier studies support the anti-aging effect of CoQ10 cream formulations.
So if your skin looks younger after using a cream containing CoQ10, you know it is based on science!
